Eldoret is the fastest growing commercial hub of Western Kenya. It’s well interlinked with roads , railway and air transport network. It has an expansive agricultural production that offers opportunities for a number of economic activities.

The Municipal Council of Eldoret strives to harness the potential in tourism, trade, transport and construction which are leading growth sectors of our economy by providing services and an enabling environment to the investors.

The world renowned athletes hail from Eldoret and continue to place the town and Kenya at large on the world map. They have also contributed immensely to the town’s development by investing.

As a council, we have developed a vision and mission which not only gives us direction based on our institutional philosophy, but also in-built responsiveness to the real needs, feelings and problems of the citizens both presently and the future.

The council’s vision is to become the best managed and accountable metropolis in Kenya. This shall be achieved through the provision of efficient and effective services through participatory approaches and sustainable use of resources.

We shall be guided by the principles and values of integrity, Transparency, Accountability and Customer focus.The 2008-2013 Strategic Plan has identified pillars that would steer the Council towards achievement of its vision. These are:

a) Strengthening institutional governances and improvement of public image
b) Enhancement of institutional capacity
c) Infrastructure development and decongesting of the Central Business District
d) Enhancement of disaster management
e) Effective management of solid waste and promotion of environmental conservation and beautification
f) Maintenance of high health standards, combating diseases and HIV/AIDs pandemic and facilitation of positive change in the lives of the disadvantaged and less fortunate members of the society
g) To maintain high quality of education and enrolment in primary schools
h) The council endeavor to enhance its revenue base and efficient utilization

I call upon all our stakeholders to support the council initiatives and partner with us. The demand for quality services from our clients /customers and constructive criticism shall improve our services outlined in our Service Charter.
